The Voguish Day
It has been more than a month but my euphoria of being a star (for half a day) is not over yet. My 4YO daughter and I rolled in a lights-camera-action-and-cut experience!
Nivi and I were chosen for a photoshoot for a commercial advertisement. Kinder Joy in November, had organized a month-long national digital campaign for a child-parent photo contest; where the duo had to post a picture of themselves enjoying the Kinder Joy treat. Little did we know that there was more to winning an iPad. Three months later, I received an email suggesting that our picture had won against the two thousand odd entries and we were qualified for the official photoshoot for Kinder Joy. I stood there agape with wonder; rubbing my eyes is disbelief and beaming with joy - all at the same time.
Modelling had never made it to my ‘good-to-have’ list. However, an experience as different and unusual as it could be, always qualifies I thought!
After months of date rescheduling and plan shuffling, we finally went to Mumbai in August for the photoshoot.
The lights-camera-and-lots-of-action day was here! We arrived at the studio where the crew was ready with arrangements way more than we can even think of. The team had a designated person to look out for every single detail – a photographer for clicking us, an assistant photographer for ensuring the focused shots, a director for supervising the shoot, a stylist for our wardrobe, a gaffer for executing the lights, a make-up artist, a hairdresser, a prop coordinator, and a spot boy - all to ensure that everything goes out with the highest amount of perfectionism. Apart from the crew, the high-end cameras, dollies, sets, equipment, reflectors and lighting added to the experience of a lifetime.
The crew casted their magical spell and brought out the fashionistas in us. Our apprehensions subsided and the surge of adrenaline rushed inside us as we took our first shot.
Soon we were on cloud nine. At least, it felt so when the wind puffing out of the blower set our hair dancing in tune with lights and cameras. The job looked less daunting as we gave ourselves to the glam-calling.
We started to enjoy the strokes of brush over our faces and the hair-fixes after every few shots. Every eye in the room was upon us and we thoroughly enjoyed the attention we were getting. In between the shots, the costume supervisor ironed the outfits; the coordinator shuffled the props; the spot boy got us juices; and every other person cheered the mood of my little one. With every ‘cut’, there was a sense of delightment as we relished the Page 3 status!
